Rotapower® Engine for the Energy Industry

Environmentally Friendly, Low Cost and Highly Efficient Solutions

Rotapower® Engine for the Energy Industry

The energy industry is going through dramatic changes due to renewables penetration, environmental compliance and demand response. To mitigate these challenges we have designed our engines to be California ARB compliant, use a modular design for scalability and low maintenance, significantly reduce operating costs, offer fast ramp rates, and be fuel agnostic.

We are committed to our customers and stand behind our products. Talk with us about comprehensive long term maintenance/reliability support.

Microgrids

A microgrid is a localized group of electricity sources and sinks (loads) that typically operates connected to and synchronous with the traditional centralized grid (macrogrid), but can disconnect and maintain operation autonomously as physical and/or economic conditions dictate.

Renewable sources, like solar and wind, have been the sources of choice for microgrids. However, as these sources are variable energy resources (VER), microgrids also consist of storage systems, like batteries and generators, that allow the microgrid to become dispatchable. With batteries, capital and maintenance costs are going higher due to the scarcity of lithium and are very hazardous under strenuous operating conditions. Battery characteristics also change dramatically with weather conditions. On the other hand, conventional generators have emissions and environmental compliance issues, are very loud, and not very efficient.

Keeping these industry challenges in mind, we can apply our Rotapower® engines for gen-sets to replace battery storage and conventional generators to provide effective dispatchable capabilities to microgrids. Rotapower® engines have the following characteristics that mitigate current industry challenges:

  • Low emissivity i.e., CARB (Environmental compliance)
  • Fuel agnostic. Can run on Gasoline, CNG, NG, Biogas, Ethanol (preferable), Methanol (Preferable).
  • Extremely low maintenance. These rotary engines are highly reliable and have very few moving parts.
  • Modular design for scalability for required energy needs.
  • Extremely fast ramp rates. These engines can ramp up to 10,000 RPM in a matter of milliseconds.

Blackstart Systems

Our Rotapower engines are capable of providing blackstart capabilities at a reliable and affordable cost to utilities.
